Pilger 1 hour 34 min Aug 22 2007 One fault of this video is that it only hinted at the complicity and corruption of religion in the countries exploited by the empire builders. Religion, power and corrupt governments all go hand in hand. Yes it interviewed some brave religious people but these people were brave not because of their religion but were brave despite their religion. Poverty will only disappear from the world once people overcome repression of the empire builders and religion. Anonymous Sep 19, 2007 I never spoke against USA before, but after watching this, I think the USA are a shame for this world, and also made this world a worse place to live. What you did to some countries make me sick, hypocrites! Magix Sep 26, 2007 This is outstanding journalism, its astonishing how perverted the idea of freedom has become under the guise of capitalism. I'm so disheartened by the United States and I feel for the people of these countries and how they've been stripped of their right to self determination all for the opportunity of a few people and the self interest of the US. selfish selfish America shame on you f**kers! I'm behind Chavez 100%. Anonymous Sep 27, 2007 An inspiring piece of journalism - why don't media show us the true picture more often? John mentioned 'people power' at the end of the video - I reckon 'people power' will ultimately overcome corruption & who knows - maybe in our lifetime we'll see a world where people are more important than profit. Australian journalist, author, film maker John Pilger speaks about global media consolidation, war by journalism, US military's quest for domination/hegemony in the post 9/11 era, false history in the guise of 'objective' journalism. Filmed in Chicago at Socialism 2007: Socialism for the 21st Century by Paul Hubbard. June 16, 2007 Broadcast on Democracy Now - The War and Peace Report - August 7, 2007 http://www.haymarketbooks.org/ http://www.socialistworker.org/ The media, as we all know, is a very powerful tool, it can bring down a city, much like a nuclear bomb can. There are the puppets and their puppeteers, and then there's truth. The only way to spread truth is to attack the media in a guerrilla fashion. In the city you live in, look in the phone book, choose a lot of random people and send them a message through the mail. Messages of truth. Enlighten these people. Get people to question s**t they say on media outlets like CNN and The View. R&R Sep 26, 2007 John
Pilger Breaking The Silence 51 min 5 sec the scarface1989 Sep 15 2007 The documentary by John Pilger investigates George W Bush's "war on terror". In "liberated" Afghanistan, America has its military base and pipeline access, while the people have the warlords who are, says one women, "in many ways worse than the Taliban". In Washington, a series of remarkable interviews includes senior Bush officials and former intelligence officers. In the week that the Hutton inquiry into the death of the British scientist Dr David Kelly releases its report, a former senior CIA official tells Pilger that the whole issue of weapons of mass destruction was "95 per cent charade". 55 min 57 sec www.planetquo.com Nov 30 2007 There are times when one tragedy, one crime tells us how a whole system works behind its democratic facade and helps us to understand how much of the world is run for the benefit of the powerful and how governments lie. To understand the catastrophe of Iraq, and all the other Iraq's along imperial history's trail of blood and tears, one need look no further than Diego Garcia. |
